
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 21

Sparks, Butcher, Dempsey, Mahan, Susman and Dalton)
Requesting the Division of Highways of the Department of
Transportation to utilize the current existing course of State
Route Number 10 in any construction project creating a
four-lane highway between a terminus in the County of Logan
and a terminus in the County of Raleigh, traversing the County
of Wyoming and passing through the communities of Oceana and
Pineville.

Whereas, State Route Number 10 is the current main thoroughfare
which traverses the County of Wyoming on an East to West axis; and

Whereas, State Route Number 10 connects all of the major
communities and residential areas within the County of Wyoming; and

Whereas, The people of the County of Wyoming depend heavily
upon the continued good condition of this thoroughfare in the
course of their daily personal and professional lives; and

Whereas, The Division of Highways is currently studying the
possible upgrading of State Route Number 10 to a four-lane highway
connecting a terminus in the County of Logan with a terminus in the County of Raleigh; and

Whereas, The current path of State Route Number 10 passes
through the communities of Oceana and Pineville; and

Whereas, The citizens of the County of Wyoming and of the
communities of Oceana and Pineville would benefit greatly from the
upgrade of this highway to four lanes in the form of greater
convenience and safety in travel and in the form of economic
development due to the greater access such a highway would provide
to the county, and would be negatively affected by the diversion of
such a highway from these communities; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Division of Highways of the Department of
Transportation is hereby requested to utilize the current existing
course of State Route Number 10 in any construction project
creating a four-lane highway between a terminus in the County of
Logan and a terminus in the County of Raleigh, traversing the
County of Wyoming and passing through the communities of Oceana and
Pineville; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is requested to
forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor, to the Secretary
of Transportation and to the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
